[PANEL] Scaling low-carbon materials across the building value chain

Location:FOYER

  • Regulations

Demand for low-carbon building materials is no longer driven by voluntary commitments alone. Tightening regulations, including the EU Emissions Trading System (ETS) and public procurement standards like the CO₂ Performance Ladder, are turning embodied carbon into a core financial and compliance metric. At the same time, institutional investors and asset owners are demanding verified environmental product declarations (EPD) to de-risk portfolios and secure green capital.

This panel brings together key actors from across the built environment value chain, including material producers, main contractors and engineering consultancy. Together with carbon market experts, they will discuss how regulatory drivers, client expectations and procurement criteria are reshaping material selection. Attendees will gain practical insights into balancing upfront cost premiums against long-term asset value, navigating supply chain bottlenecks, and turning decarbonisation requirements into a competitive advantage.

  • Lizzy van Hoof, Sustainability Managing Consultant, CO2logic, a South Pole company

  • Mira Hoevenaeghel, Sustainable Transition Manager, Eiffage Construction
