Building climate resilience at Nextensa through comprehensive risk and opportunity assessment

Understanding and integrating climate factors into business strategy is essential for sustainable growth and long-term value creation. Many companies already measure and monitor their greenhouse gas emissions, and some go even further by assessing their resilience to climate risks and identifying new opportunities.

In July 2024, Nextensa, with the support of PwC, embarked on its first exercise on climate change risks and opportunities. This initiative used three different climate scenarios to assess the financial, operational and legal impacts of climate risks and opportunities, providing a framework for integrating this information into internal financial planning and give examples of how to financially quantify the identified risks and opportunities.

The speakers will present the results and key lessons learned from this project and discuss the challenges encountered in this exercise, such as reliance on assumptions and the specific obstacles faced by the real estate sector.
