Beyond net zero: fighting for science and health in a time of doubt

After 18 years of leading climate action, Antoine Geerinckx shares a view of how the sector has evolved and where it stands today. Commitments are slowing, net zero is facing increasing criticism, and trust in science is being challenged.

And this goes beyond carbon targets. It’s about our ecosystems, health, air quality, water quality, soil quality… and our collective future. Across Belgium, pollutions & poor air quality impacts homes, schools, workplaces, and public spaces, affecting people in many areas of daily life. The link between emissions and public well-being can no longer be ignored.

This talk is a call for courage and action. Despite mounting pressure, we still have the knowledge, the responsibility, and the collective strength to move forward.
